My Heaven, My Movie, My Food Fight, My Love : Ketchup #26

Guess what time it is, kids!  That's right, it's Ketchup time again! Mel and Michele are back again with a new and exciting prompt for us.

I have to say, as a movie lover, this was a tough one at first.  Then, once I thought about it, it was a no-brainer.  This is one of my favorite scenes from one of my favorite movies.

Dad and I actually got to visit the Whistle Stop Cafe, where it was filmed, on our road trip two years ago, and the Fried Green Tomatoes were the best I've ever tasted!

Ketchup With Us - Prompt 26

In 57 words or less...if you could reenact one
scene from a movie, what would it be?

To play in the kitchen, my favorite place, with my best friend, my love,
Preparing our favorite food, making a mess, devolving into ridiculous fits of uncontrollable laughter,
Slipping in the disaster we have created,
For once, not caring about the clean-up.
Forgetting the world outside our kitchen.
Forgetting the world outside our love.
My Heaven.

Forty Was Fabulous! Ketchup #25

Our beloved friends, Michele and Mel are at it again, this time celebrating the first birthday of their #KetchupWithUs series, so it is time to celebrate!

'KETCHUP WITH US' - PROMPT 25

In 57 words or less, tell us about an incredible, disastrous or otherwise memorable birthday in your life.

"The ruby is the stone of the fortieth year," declared My Sweetheart, planning my celebration.
Ruby slippers,
Ruby chalice,
Guests dressed in shades of red.
Fantastic photo retrospective set to my favorite music.
Delivery the Legend of The Hundred Year-Old Burmese Eye of the Guinea Pig,
And most beautiful ruby I've ever seen.
Forty was fabulous!

Ketchup With Us #21 Freedom

Our good friends Mel and Michele have posted their latest #KetchupWithUs prompt and, as it has been ages since this Betty has had time to play, it seemed high time to join in the shenanigans again.

'Ketchup With Us' - Prompt 21

In 57 words or less, tell us what FREEDOM means to you or (if you're feeling silly) about the last great thing you got for FREE!

The last student is loaded into the last car.  Seat belt latched.  Car door slammed shut. We all smile, wave and shout, "Have a great summer!"  As the car disappears into the distance, a brief moment of silence, then a deafening cheer erupts from the exuberant, exhausted teachers.  "Woo hoo!  Freedom!  Finally!  Let's get this summer started!"

Here's to the freedom of summer!

Dream Shoes

Michele and Mel have brought us yet another fun challenge this week.  It took me a while to wrap my head around this one, but as soon as I did I wondered what took me so long!

‘KETCHUP WITH US’ – Prompt #13

In 57 words or less, tell us about whose shoes you’d like to walk in for a day.

The Lucky Girl: all I have is all I need.
Classic Converse One-Stars.
Preppy, plaid Sperry top-siders carry me
comfortably, carefully through each day.
But just once, I'd like to flash the tell-tale sexy, scarlet sole -
my Leboutin dream shoe,
as I smolderingly saunter out of a room,
leaving everyone whispering in my wake.

Tradition. Tradition...Tradition!

Fire crackling.
Cocktails tinkling.
Light twinkling.
Singing along with Mr. Hanky and the cast of South Park to the most irreverent holiday songs imaginable.
Laughing until we cry.
Christmas Eve at our house.

Ketchup With Us #8

Michele and Mel are all about tradition this time, and they wanted to hear about ours, in fifty-seven words, of course.

Ketchup : Advice in 57 words

"Just be still," Laura, whispered as she held me tightly, trembling, exhausted, verging on collapse. "Breathe. Listen. Allow yourself a quiet moment. Just be still."
I began to cry.
Then I went home and for a few moments I did it!
Nothing came crashing down upon me. Instead, being still helped me feel relieved and refreshed. Brilliant!

The promt from Ketchup with Us:
"Tell us in 57 words or less the best advice you have ever received from someone older than you or that you admire."

(Laura is someone I sincerely admire very much.  I have had the priveledge of teaching both of her children, and while she may be older than me, if she is, I'm pretty sure it can't be by more than a couple of years.)

Thanks, Michele and Mel, for allowing me the opportunity to finally put this into words.
